What to expect?
We will meet at Bike Flow at 7am to adjust the bikes and present the team that will accompany us throughout the journey.
Once we have our bicycles and helmets ready, we will begin our tour pedaling from our store through a cycle path that connects the city of Oaxaca with the town of Santa María del Tule, home of one of the oldest and largest trees in the world. Once we have traveled the first half of the cycle path, we will have the option of continuing along this path or taking a basic/intermediate level trail for 1 hour through the mountains, free of cars and with very fun sections with a lot of flow. Both will take us to the main square of Santa Maria del Tule where our first stop will be to have a delicious breakfast at the Gastronomic Market where we will try local food from the region, ideal to fill our stomachs and start a great day of adventure. Once we have finished our breakfast, we will go to visit the Tule Tree, which is one of the largest and oldest trees in the world and we will learn about its history, importance and some relevant information about this Oaxacan giant.
With a full stomach and having rested a little, we will get on our bikes and prepare to ride for 25km along local trails that are almost entirely flat, passing through towns and always surrounded by dreamlike landscapes and typical vegetation of the region that you will visit. They will make you feel the real Oaxaca. This road will take us approximately 1.5 hours until we take a strategic stop in the municipality of Tlacolula de Matamoros, which houses one of the most beautiful Baroque style churches in Oaxaca and which we invite you to visit. This stop will serve us to eat a delicious snack, rest and where we will also have the option of getting on and continuing the tour in our van which will be accompanying us throughout the tour or continue the route the last 10km by bicycle until we reach the ruins of San Pablo Villa de Mitla, which in their time, were part of one of the most important political and religious sites of the Zapotec culture and where we will finish our part of the bicycle tour leaving our bicycles in the van and where it will also be waiting for us delicious artisanal snow as well as a certified guide ready to give us a private tour through these important and well-preserved traces of our past and history. After this tour we can walk through the craft market if you like to buy some souvenirs.
Once this is done, we will continue to our 4th and last stop in the comfort of our van and visit the petrified waterfalls of “Hierve el agua”, where you can have the much-desired rest and immerse yourself for a while in its natural pools as well as admire the beautiful landscape. that surround this great work of nature. To finish our tour, we will eat at a delicious restaurant near the waterfalls, and we will be able to choose what we want from the menu, contemplate a majestic view of the Oaxaca mountains and have an excellent talk and comments on the day. Once we finish eating, we will begin our return to the city of Oaxaca directly to Bike Flow, enjoying the sunset and satisfied after a great day of adventure, knowledge, delicious food and great pedaling.
